At the end of the video, Margaret says that space exploration was controversial in the 1970s and 1980s. People wondered why the government was spending time and money exploring the solar system when critical problems existed here on Earth. What do you think? Should the government resolve Earthly issues before exploring space? Or is a scientific investigation of distant worlds a fundamentally human endeavor of exploration? Explain your argument.
First of all, i think this is a great question. It’s a bit tricky when it comes to explain the gigantic expenditure on space explorations when a fellow human being is dying of hunger. My opinions are straightforward, if one can use a scientific method to help the poor and destitute, that should be encouraged. All these travel and going outwards is a western idea.
Only when you find peace in the inner self, then you should go exploring the puzzles of outward.
This doesn’t imply I don’t encourage exploration. Experiential learning and knowledge seeking should be always encouraged. The only thing to keep in mind is that it shouldn’t come at a cost of inner peace.
